Taylor Swift released her self-titled debut album on Oct. Since then, she's gone from country superstar to pop world monolith, making chart history in the process, all the way through her seventh studio album, Lover , released in August Taylor Swift's Biggest Billboard Hits chart is based on actual performance on the weekly Billboard Hot , through the July 25, , ranking.
5. ‘Look What You Made Me Do’
American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift has released eight studio albums , five extended plays EP , two live albums , one compilation album , 56 singles including five as a featured artist , 19 promotional singles , and 55 music videos. With estimated sales of over 50 million albums and million singles worldwide, Swift is one of the best-selling music artists. Swift's career began with a record deal with Big Machine Records in and the release of her eponymous debut album the following year. The album was the longest-charting album of the s decade in the US, where it peaked at number five. Its singles " Love Story " and " You Belong with Me " were international crossover hits, propelling Swift to international fame. Fearless was the best-selling album of in the US, and 13 of its songs reached the top 40 of the US Billboard Hot , breaking the record for the most top 40 entries from a single album.
Not only that, but she has three Number 1 albums under her belt too. And there's more to come! Taylor's new album Lover is released on August 23 — while we wait to see how that fares, Official Charts reveals her biggest hits so far, based on sales and streams. The track reached Number 21 on the Official Singles Chart, its chart chances hampered in part by that decision to keep her music off streaming services it fared much better in the US where it peaked at 6. Despite the huge successes of chart-topping albums Red and , one thing that had eluded Taylor was a Number 1 hit, which she soon remedied with the lead single from Reputation. Helped along by an accompanying video packed with in-jokes and laden with references to her internet presence and numerous celebrity spats, Look What You Made Me Do went straight in at Number 1 in , and because it was available to stream straightaway, it's racked up 60 million plays to be her third most streamed track of all time. When combined with other formats, its tally comes to ,, her seventh biggest single in total.
Over the past 10 years, Swift has grown up in the public eye all while writing and singing about her most intimate and gutting breakups and massive, fairy-tale wins. Her mind! But even I can admit that the pop star has had a few missteps over the course of her career—usually when she sacrifices her signature authenticity for commercialism. Even the biggest missteps, in short, are worthy contributions. Sorry for the drama. The more secrecy and forbidden the love song on Reputation is the more I love it. If her latest album, Lover , is known for its rainbow-sparkle-sunshine vibe and Reputation is known for moody synths, then Red is known for its evocative lyrics. The title track of the album is a Taylor Swift song in its purest form: a colorful, painted photograph of love and loss. Also, the star-studded music video was a revival of the music video as a Cultural Moment. A terrible and dumb message, but one that I no doubt played into in the aughts.
