BECOME A CEREAL KILLER
What’s been the reaction in Birmingham since you opened there last year?
Identical twins Alan and Gary Keery, from Belfast , came up with the idea of selling breakfast cereal after experiencing a morning hangover during a lunch break in Shoreditch and craving a "sugary cereal fix". Inspired by established cereal cafes in the United States and the premise of the film Flakes , they went about asking consumers on the streets whether or not they would buy into the concept. The interior is designed to reflect a retro style with exposed brickwork, formica furniture and s and '90s music. Among the decor are novelty cereal boxes, vintage milk bottles and other cereal related memorabilia. It also sells coffee, toast and poptarts. In the brothers were challenged by Channel 4 over the price of their bowls of cereal in Tower Hamlets. After being told the London borough had some of the highest rates of poverty in the country, [11] [12] [13] [14] Gary denied this was the case and said his cereal was "cheap for the area" before refusing to continue with the interview. Media commentary ranged from praise of their entrepreneurship from Boris Johnson [17] to criticism pointing at gentrification around Shoreditch.

My 13 year old and I loved everything about this place! From the decor which I appreciated as a child of the 80's to the cereal. We are both cereal lovers and so got the 8 min-bowls. Was so fun. Definitely worth the trip out Really enjoyed my experience here today. Will definitely be returning! Friendly staff, tasty cereal and a quirky experience. We'd heard about this place so stopped by for drinks.
AK: We were hungover in Shoreditch and thought we just wanted to go for a nice cold bowl of cereal. GK: A lot of people thought it was terrible idea. AK: For the people who were in the cafe at the time it was very terrifying. Because the story divided people, it made it go viral and that is what led to our success now. GK: We get called lots of things, hipsters, twats, geniuses, cringeworthy, inspirational. AK: A lot of people throw the hipster word around and not in a nice way.
